This is our May prayer letter.  Thanks for your patience!  Read on for the English version below!

Hola amigos de oración:

Gracias por orar con nosotros y por nosotros.  Dios está contestando sus oraciones.

El papa de Ned, Glennis, salió bien de su operación para reemplazar la válvula de su corazón; el doctor estuvo bien contento.  Por favor sigan orando por él y por la mamá de Ned, Marilyn, durante este tiempo de recuperación.  Ahora están de nuevo en Birdsboro, PA, después de quedarse en casa de la hermana de Ned en Virginia por un mes para tener la cirugía y el cuidado después. 

La mamá de Marisol, Zulema, y su hermano Hugo están recuperándose después de sus recientes cirugías en los ojos.  Sigan orando por ellos, especialmente por Hugo porque necesita operarse del otro ojo.  Él está muy ocupado trabajando en su tesis para graduarse de arquitecto en la universidad este año.

Este sábado el Seminario MINTS en Ibarra ofrece el nuevo curso, Misiología, la doctrina de las misiones.  Oren por los estudiantes y por Ned mientras él  trabaja con ellos para completar sus trabajos.  Con cada curso vienen gozo y desafíos, y  necesitamos sus oraciones.

El viernes 31 de mayo y sábado 1 de junio Radio Punto tendrá su radiotón anual para recaudar fondos por el ministerio de la emisora.  El viernes habrá un programa en vivo en el cual cada locutor presentará un segmento corto con la meta de glorificar a Dios y permitir a los asistentes  conocernos mejor.  Nuestra meta para Radiotón 2013 es $1,500; oren por favor que la alcancemos o la sobrepasemos.

Joel y Amelia están terminando sus clases de escuela en la casa y están anticipando tener un descanso.  Los dos fueron escogidos para actuar en un drama en nuestra iglesia para la clausura del Club Oansa en junio.  Estamos muy orgullosos de ellos.

Cada uno de nuestros cuatros hijos nos traen gozo todos los días.  Oren que seamos buenos padres y esposos.  Apreciamos su apoyo en oración.

Thank you for praying with and for us.  God is answering your prayers.

Ned’s father Glennis came through his heart valve replacement well; the doctor was very pleased.  Please continue to pray for him and Ned’s mother Marilyn during this time of recuperation.  They are now back in Birdsboro, PA, after going to Virginia for a month to stay with Ned’s sister and family for the surgery and post surgery care.

Marisol’s mother Zulema and her brother Hugo are doing well after their respective eye operations.  Keep them in your prayers, too, especially Hugo as he will need an operation on his other eye.  He is busy working on his thesis to graduate from the university as an architect, so it is a busy time for him.

This coming Saturday MINTS Seminary in Ibarra is offering Missiology, the Doctrine of Missions.  Please pray for the students as Ned works with them to complete their assignments.  With each new course come joys and challenges, and we need your prayers.

On Friday, May 31, and Saturday, June 1, Radio Punto will hold its annual Radiotón to raise funds for the radio ministry.  Friday also marks the date for “An Evening with Radio Punto,” a live program in which each DJ will present a short segment with the goal of glorifying God and allowing attendees to get to know the different hosts better.  Our goal for Radiotón 2013 is $1,500; please pray that we reach or supersede it!

Joel and Amelia are finishing up home school for the year and are looking forward to a break.  Both of them were selected to act in a drama at our church for the closing program of Awana Club in June.  We are very proud of them.

Jacob and Elías both walk now and are learning new words in English and Spanish.  This week Jacob climbed up on the sofa without help.  Oh my!  It will soon be time to start potty training.  We need grace to maintain a level of sanity in the midst of the craziness.  We say this only partly in jest.  Surely those of you with experience in multiples can understand this.

All four of our children bring us joy every day.  Pray for us to be good parents and spouses.  We appreciate your support in prayer.

Goodbye Guam, Alii Palau!

Here is a recap of the final days of our friends Hiob and Leah and their children Micah and Jireh in Guam. They have returned to Palau where Hiob will serve as senior pastor of the Koror Evangelical Church. We all started together at PIBC back in fall 2006 and we have worked together, laughed together, cried together, prayed together, and grown together. Although it is hard to say goodbye, we know that they will be a blessing to the Church in Palau, and we find comfort in the words of the Michael W. Smith song "Friends": friends are friends forever if the Lord's the Lord of them. Amen! We had a BBQ in their honor on campus at the beginning of June before the Thai mission team left. Delight posed with Micah and Hiob during a break from barbecuing. He is a fantastic barbecuer. Notice he's even holding the tongs, to a barbecuer what a hammer is to a carpenter. Amelia says, "Goodbye, Long Hair!"

Amelia finally had her hair cut after six years of no cutting. She likes her new haircut and enjoys combing her own hair for the first time ever. She wants to donate her hair for child cancer patients, and we are pleased that she wants to share with others. Here are some pictures before and after.

GOOD THINGS HAPPENING 3

 A little background to this story.  I have been a fan of The Waltons from the beginning of the series.  In 2017 I attended the 45th anniversary celebration of the show in Schuyler, Virginia, the small hamlet where the series' creator Earl Hamner, Jr., was born and raised.  Perhaps I can share a bit more about that in a future post. During that weekend in March 2017 I met Reen Christie Bula (a/k/a Tammi Bula), who played John-Boy's love interest Marcia Woolery in the early seasons. Here is a shot of Reen and me, As well as a shot of all the cast member in attendance at the reunion with the exception of Michael Learned who went to bed early due to a play appearance the following day. During the weekend Reen, her husband Gordon and I shared time together, and she shared with me her testimony, how she came to the Lord through the witness of friends (she was working as an RN at the time) and how she saw the sign of Pi in the sky one day which prompted her to check out John 3:14-16
