MACC Missions Trip

Recently a team from Muhlenburg Area Community Church in Reading, PA, traveled to Ecuador to help with a construction project at Amigos en Cristo Church in Cotacachi.

They arrived during the festival of San Juan which involves a largely drunken dancing ritual that occurs every day for a week.

More dancing.

I went to work with the team two mornings.

Joel and Amelia helped with the refreshment preparation, translation and water distribution.

 Jacob the refreshment taste tester.

Elias too.

The cute Farnsworth kids.

Pouring the concrete for the roof of the caretaker's apartment.

Helping to mix the concrete with gravel and sand.

Joel the water boy.

The ladies from Cotacachi helped to serve the lunch.

 We all ate together.

Elias helped with clean up.

 Team picture.

A familiar face for me.  I grew up with Dan at Exeter Bible Church.  Actually I was a close friend to his brother Wayne and all the family.

A couple days after most of the team left we had George and Ben over for lunch.  Thanks to all the team members for their service and help.

Yesterday was a lovely clear day to celebrate our eleventh anniversary with Irma (Marisol's cousin) and Christian, who also got married on July7, they in 2007 and we in 2002.  I thank the Lord for MY Marisol!

Trip to Rio Verde

Joel recently spent a few days on the edge of the rainforest with some of our missionary colleagues in Rio Verde, near Lita, about two hours away from Ibarra.  Our friends minister to the Awa people.  We saw some beautiful sights on our way to pick him up.  Thank God for 4 wheel drive!

Here is Kevin Bruce with some Awa.  The man on the left is Paulino, the first known Christian among the Awa.  He came to the Lord through the first Liebenzell missionary in Ecuador, George Hege, in the late 1980s.  It was so good to see him again.  He and his brother serve as elders in the Awa church and are growing in the Lord.

Amelia helped one of the girls make a necklace from beads.

These are pictures of the missionaries' houses.

The kids enjoyed seeing the baby bunnies.

Lots of bunny pictures.  Sorry if I overdid!

Joel running up the hill.

"Baby" chickens!

Marisol enjoyed her visit with Chrissy, one of the missionary wives.

This is Chrissy's washing "machine!"  They work so hard to live among the people they serve.

Baby ducks with the dog as a bodyguard.  HA!  Joel really enjoyed his visit and wants to return again, maybe with Amelia next time.
