Farnsworth Family Forum June 2018

Thanks for your patience in waiting for this update.  So much has happened since our winter letter. . .

On Friday, March 16 we received word that Dad was admitted to the hospital with a high fever which turned out to be a symptom of a severe urinary tract infection.  He began taking two antibiotics but did not respond well to treatment and became agitated and confused.  Mom made the difficult decision to suspend treatment, and he went into hospice on Sunday night.  Five days later, early in the morning on March 23, 2018, he passed into the presence of his precious Lord and Savior, the One he had served so faithfully during his life of 88 years.
Humanly speaking, we are sad and grieve our loss.  Even now I find myself crying from time to time.  Still, we see with spiritual eyes that Dad’s suffering has ended; he is at peace.
I traveled home for the memorial service on March 31 and stayed with Mom for almost two weeks.  The service seemed like a love fest for Dad.  We estimate that 400 people attended to celebrate Dad’s life, many of whom we had not seen in many years.  I was honored to share family memories of my father.  He certainly left us a rich legacy, and we thank the Lord for all the years we could spend with him.
Mom recently moved back to the apartment she previously shared with Dad in independent living, and we keep in touch with her regularly.  She is a true woman of faith, and although she has good days along with the more difficult ones, she seems to be coping well.  Please keep her in your prayers!

Thank you for praying for my seminary class on 2 Corinthians.  More people attended in Quito (25) than in Ibarra (15).  I learned so much in my study and preparation, things that I had never noticed before.  The saying is quite true: “The teacher always learns more than his students”!

“Zona de Vida” Church experiences its ups and downs as any new church does.  We recently held a celebration for Mother’s Day which brought 54 people to the church, including 14 visitors.

We also hosted our first men’s breakfast in May.  Eight men attended.  Although we had hoped for a bigger turnout, we realize that God is in control, and we thank Him for the three new men who joined us.  Please pray for the salvation of all these visitors and for us as we reach out to them.

From July 14-23 we will host a mission team from Liebenzell USA in New Jersey.  Pray for the nine members of the team and for the details that still need to be finalized for their visit.

Thanks for your love and support always.  God bless you all!
