Trip to the Radio Tower

Last week Marisol's uncle Iván and I went to the radio tower.  Although the future of Liebenzell Mission Ecuador's radio ministry is uncertain, we traveled up the mountain to the antenna to cut the grass and maintain the transmitter.

It was a beautiful clear day with a great view.  Notice Ibarra and Yahuarcocha lagoon.

You can see how long the grass was!  ¡Qué vergüenza!  How embarrassing!

He used his weed wacker and a machete to do the job!

Throwing the cut grass over the fence.

Here is the little hut that houses the transmitter.

Here are the other "grass cutters."  Alive and in action!

The AM transmitter with cover off for cleaning!

He can see how much work Iván did.

Here are the friends at the entrance our property.  It is one acre in size.

While Iván cut the grass, I used my trust pick and shovel to dig out at least 100 thistles.  Here is the thistle pile!

A precious moment when a little lamb drinks his mama's milk.

Ivan's job is almost done.  Soon time to go!

A good, productive day.  We hope to go every month to avoid the grass buildup!!!
