Isabel: Back to Santa Rosa

On Sunday we went to visit Marisol's family in Santa Rosa.  We arrived to see corn setting out on the patio to dry before being ground into flour.

Isabel went with us.  This was her first time back to Santa Rosa since 2004.

We all enjoyed the fellowship and laughter.

All of our children, especially Elías, was intrigued by the corn.

Amelia liked holding the guinea pigs, especially this (rare) three-colored one.

Here is a baby guinea pig.

All of them are oblivious to the fact that they will be people food someday.  Yes, eating guinea pig is considered a delicacy in Ecuador, dating back to the time of the Incas.  Artwork even exists of Jesus and the disciples eating guinea pig, or "cuy" in Spanish, at the last supper.

Eventually we made our way down the hill to the river.

Joel, Hugo and Amelia enjoyed throwing rocks into the river and at the boulders on the other side of the river.  Later Jacob and Elías joined them.

Then the true fun began.  The trip back up the hill.  Hugo helped us with Elías and Isabel with Jacob.

We enjoyed our outing to Santa Rosa and the river very much.
