Farnsworth Family Forum September 2012

Hello Prayer Warriors,
It is a pleasure to write to you again to tell you how God is working in our lives.  Jacob and Elías turned seven-months-old on August 28, 2012.  Time sure continues to fly, doesn’t it?  The babies are starting to eat solid food, which keeps Marisol hopping even more than usual along with her other domestic responsibilities.  She recently made a beautiful set of curtains for Amelia’s room, and she likes to help cut the grass in our yard.  Pray for Marisol and all the things she has to do each day!  I honestly don’t know how she does it.
We received a wonderful report regarding my dad’s cancer.  His latest scan showed that he is currently cancer free.  How we praise the Lord and thank all of you for your faithful prayers!
Many of you have been praying for the visa of a young lady who was planning to come and help us with home school for Joel and Amelia for the 2012-2013 school year.  At the last minute she decided not to come, which made it impossible for us to find another helper for this year.  This means a complete overhaul of my work schedule, so that I can be present at home in the mornings to help Marisol.  It is IMPOSSIBLE to do home school alone with two babies in the house.  Of course, it is a BIG disappointment, but we need to trust that God knows what He is doing.  He has helped us to leap over BIGGER hurdles than this in the past.  Please pray that we organize our time and work priorities well AND that we be good home school teachers to Joel and Amelia (and that Jacob and Elías not cry too much during school hours).
During the summer we enjoyed getting to know a group of five university students from the University of Washington in Seattle.  They volunteered in the different churches affiliated with Liebenzell Mission.  I led the five in their Bible studies based on the book Radical by David Platt.  The book is aptly named and challenges readers to look beyond the American Dream to follow God with greater conviction.  They left Ecuador last week.  We also bid farewell to a group of short-term missionaries earlier this month.  The German Impact team had served here for ten months.  Pray for these young people as they readjust to life in their respective cultures and for the opportunities that they will have to encourage others towards cross cultural ministry.
The new year at the CCB Bible Institute begins on Thursday, September 6, at 7:30 pm.  I will be teaching Minor Prophets and Eschatology (Doctrine of Future Events).  This year we are switching to Thursday night from Saturday night, and we hope that this change gives more people an opportunity to participate.  Please pray for all of our preparations and plans for the CCB this year.
We continue to move forward with plans for the FM frequency for RADIO PUNTO.  This has been a MUCH LONGER process than I thought.  We still need your prayers as we need more volunteers and more local programming for this dream to become a reality.  I need wisdom for all this, and we still need to find a licensed economist that we can afford to help us with the financial statements required for the application.  I am currently on the air for Buenos días, Ibarra (Good morning, Ibarra), from 8:30-10:00 am (prerecorded due to home school responsibilities) and Noches con Ned (Evenings with Ned), from 6:00-7:00 pm.  Thanks for your prayers for the radio.
Our next MINTS seminary class will be held on Saturday, September 15, from 8:00 am-5:00 pm.  Then I will follow-up with four weeks of classes to review the reading and written assignments.  The students also have to take a final exam and write a research paper.  I have a personal goal of at least ten students for this course, Eschatology (the Doctrine of Future Events).   I completed all the student academic records for past courses, a big feeling of accomplishment for me.  We hope to have our first MINTS graduation in Ibarra on September 20 with the students who qualify.  Stay posted, and remember to pray for the students in MINTS Ibarra!
I am also preaching once a month in the English and Spanish services at the Amigos en Cristo Church in Cotacachi.  Currently we are preaching from the book of Philippians.  Although I enjoy preaching, I find the sermon preparation aspect challenging with all my other work.  Please pray for me to be disciplined and dedicated to this great responsibility.
Thanks for your prayers and support.  The work of Liebenzell Mission in Ecuador would not be possible without your help.  God bless and keep you.
Love,
Ned, Marisol, Joel, Amelia, Jacob and Elías Farnsworth
