Quarantine Visits

Our first quarantine visitor was Hugo, Marisol's younger brother.  He delivered homemade bread that my mother-in-law Zulema and my sister-in-law started selling during the covid-19 crisis since bakeries were closed down, at least for the first two months.  As you can see in the picture Hugo is loved by his twin nephews.  Architect Hugo is now supervising a construction site in Loja, southern Ecuador.

Neighbors Patricio, Edith and Carolina were the second visitors we have had since March 17 when our quarantine began.  We had hoped to connect with them more deeply for quite some time.  This is one of the benefits of isolation because people are more hungry for contact with people.  We hope to invite them to our house again soon.  I made my "famous" lasagna.  Marisol prepared a strawberry pudding dessert, and Edith brought a berry pie that her friend baked.  Hopefully they liked it!!!

Our friends and colleagues Ramona and Emilia also visited us recently.  Ramona arrived to Ecuador to work as a Liebenzell missionary in 2012 shortly after our twins sons were born.  We met her when we traveled to Lita to visit the summer youth camp for a day.

On June 21 Ramona is heading back to Germany to accept a position with our mission as a discipler, trainer, and mission mobilizer.  Although we will miss her, we know that she will be a blessing in this new adventure.  We are thrilled that she and Emilia, her coworker in the Quichua ministry and roommate over the past couple years, were able to join us for lunch last week.

Liana is an MK (missionary kid) who has been a friend to our two older children since we returned to Ecuador to resume our work here after spending 4 years in Guam.  Now Liana has graduated from high school and is returning to the US for her summer job and then studies at the Ethnos 360 Bible Institute.  She helped us in our Summer English Camp in 2018.

It has not been easy during the past couple months to spent time with our friends, and we give thanks to God for giving us the opportunity to say "good-bye" to Hugo, Ramona and Liana "up close and personal" rather than via a computer screen.

Hopefully more visits are on the horizon!
