¡Hola Amigos!

Thank you for praying for us.  The first of our three Vacation Bible Schools was a success.  Ned helped with the Bible stories, and Marisol directed the crafts each day with the assistance of the whole family.  Working together in VBS fills us with joy.  An average of 70 children attended during the three days of VBS in the Cotacachi.  We recorded personal information about the children to facilitate follow-up.  Pray that God would continue to work in the hearts of these children.  
During the next two weeks we will repeat the same program in communities on the outskirts of Cotacachi.

Currently MINTS Seminary is on hiatus until September 15 when the new course, Introduction to the New Testament, will take place.  Meanwhile, the students are busy working on their essays.  Please pray for them.

Joel and Amelia participated in the kids worship team for the closing program of the kids club for this year.  Joel played the piano, and Amelia sang in the group.  They did a good job.  Joel and Amelia, along with Jacob and Elías, will miss the weekly kids club during the summer break.

Lauren, our home school volunteer for the 2015-2016 school year, is preparing for her adventure.  Pray that she would finish everything and obtain her visa without problems in order to come at the end of August.

In Colossians 4:12 Epaphras “prays earnestly for you, asking God to make you strong and perfect, fully confident that you are following the whole will of God.”  That is our prayer for you and us, too.  Thanks for everything.  God bless you.

Gracias por orar por nosotros.  La primera de las tres Escuelitas Bíblicas de Vacaciones salió bien.  Ned ayudó con las historias bíblicas, y Marisol estuvo a cargo de las manualidades cada día con la colaboración de toda la familia.  Nos da gusto poder trabajar juntos en este ministerio.  Había un promedio de 70 niños durante los tres días que hicimos en Cotacachi.  Anotamos los datos de los niños para poder hacer un seguimiento.  Oren que Dios siga haciendo la obra en los corazones de estos niños.  En las próximas semanas estaremos en las comunidades alrededor de Cotacachi.

Actualmente MINTS está en receso hasta el nuevo curso, Introducción al Nuevo Testamento, el 15 de septiembre.  Mientras tanto los estudiantes están esforzándose para terminar sus trabajos pendientes.  Por favor oren por ellos.

Joel y Amelia participaron en el grupo de alabanza infantil para la clausura del club de niños para este año.  Joel tocó el piano, y Amelia cantó con el coro.  Hicieron muy bien.  Joel y Amelia, juntos con Jacob y Elías, van a extrañar el club de niños durante el verano.

Lauren, nuestra voluntaria para el próximo año escolar, está preparando todo para su aventura.  Oren que pueda terminar todo y conseguir su visa sin problemas para poder venir a fines de agosto.

En Colosenses 4:12 Epafras “ora con fervor por ustedes y le pide a Dios que les fortalezca y perfeccione y les dé plena confianza de que están cumpliendo toda la voluntad de Dios”.  Es nuestra oración para ustedes y nosotros también.  Gracias por todo.  Dios les bendiga.

Goodbye Guam, Alii Palau!

Here is a recap of the final days of our friends Hiob and Leah and their children Micah and Jireh in Guam. They have returned to Palau where Hiob will serve as senior pastor of the Koror Evangelical Church. We all started together at PIBC back in fall 2006 and we have worked together, laughed together, cried together, prayed together, and grown together. Although it is hard to say goodbye, we know that they will be a blessing to the Church in Palau, and we find comfort in the words of the Michael W. Smith song "Friends": friends are friends forever if the Lord's the Lord of them. Amen! We had a BBQ in their honor on campus at the beginning of June before the Thai mission team left. Delight posed with Micah and Hiob during a break from barbecuing. He is a fantastic barbecuer. Notice he's even holding the tongs, to a barbecuer what a hammer is to a carpenter. Amelia says, "Goodbye, Long Hair!"

Amelia finally had her hair cut after six years of no cutting. She likes her new haircut and enjoys combing her own hair for the first time ever. She wants to donate her hair for child cancer patients, and we are pleased that she wants to share with others. Here are some pictures before and after.

GOOD THINGS HAPPENING 3

 A little background to this story.  I have been a fan of The Waltons from the beginning of the series.  In 2017 I attended the 45th anniversary celebration of the show in Schuyler, Virginia, the small hamlet where the series' creator Earl Hamner, Jr., was born and raised.  Perhaps I can share a bit more about that in a future post. During that weekend in March 2017 I met Reen Christie Bula (a/k/a Tammi Bula), who played John-Boy's love interest Marcia Woolery in the early seasons. Here is a shot of Reen and me, As well as a shot of all the cast member in attendance at the reunion with the exception of Michael Learned who went to bed early due to a play appearance the following day. During the weekend Reen, her husband Gordon and I shared time together, and she shared with me her testimony, how she came to the Lord through the witness of friends (she was working as an RN at the time) and how she saw the sign of Pi in the sky one day which prompted her to check out John 3:14-16
