Presenting Mr. and Mrs. Sonny Kenbaroy

We were privilege to participate in the wedding ceremony of PIBC students Sonny and Elilai at the Palauan Evangelical Church of Guam on May 16. It was a lovely day with lots of good food, friends, and fellowship. Please pray for them as they settle into married life. Following is an essay they wrote for a contest in the Pacific Daily News:

When you mix golden-brown fried spam and rice, you experience a local taste of Guam-Where America's Day Begins. Try mixing unique art and stones and you will learn of the exquisite culture of Yap – Island of Stone Money. You mix the splendid rock islands engulfed in a colorful ocean life and you will discover paradise – The Republic of Palau.
Now take all three island destinations and you have the flavors for an island combination of love rooted in delicacy, culture, and beauty.
Our taste of love started on our college campus. There was a definite attraction between the both of us, as if our hearts naturally preheated themselves to 350 degrees. Every day we savored our love both inside and outside the classroom. Exchanging love notes, on-going flirting, and volleyball and basketball matches served as appetizers that helped form sweetness within our hearts. Our love automatically took on a culture of its own. With a common taste in our hearts, we exposed ourselves, bringing to light our weaknesses and strengths, without the need for pretense. Accepting each other's background and system of beliefs is not always easy but when you add love to your misunderstandings, blessings follow into the heart of your culture. As time goes on, we see that love is our beautiful God-given gift. The island of Guam placed this gift into the hands of a man from Yap, flowing deep into the heart of a Palauan woman. Our combination of love is alive.
