The Family that Plays Together Stays Together

Image
Today was a FUN day!  Here are Elias and Jacob on their cars in matching t-shirts from Baños, Ecuador. Then after lunch Amelia was Rapunzeling from our balcony! In the afternoon I went to the park with Elias and Jacob.  Here is Elias´ first time down the sliding board by himself.  Followed by Jacob, of course! We finished our time in the park with a photo by Simón Bolívar himself, the Liberator of South America!  Notice Mt. Imbabura in the background!

A Day in Cotacachi

Image
As mentioned in a prior post, my stint of service in Cotacachi is winding down.  The "Amigos en Cristo" Church now has a full-time national pastor, and we are leaving Ecuador in late June for one year in the USA. It has been my pleasure to assist in serving the 30-60 needy people who go to breakfast every Thursday at the church in our partnership with Ecuador Project Hope.  In this breakfast fellow volunteer Bruce is serving a extra helping of hot breakfast drink to the people.   Foundation director Micky and Kate chat with one of the ladies after breakfast. Cotacachi is the capital for leather products in Ecuador.  Here are some pictures of the main street with the fantastic scenery in the background. I never tire of seeing the blue skies and the mountains.  FANTASTIC! One of my dear friends and a founder of the church in Cotacachi is Hermana Mercedes.  Her health does not permit her to attend services so much anymore, but it i...

Men's Meeting in Cotacachi

Image
One thing I will miss when my time of service in Cotacachi ends are the men's fellowships that we have every other Sunday evening.  I can summarize these time with the following words: games, food, fun and learning, all done together. Here Alfonso directed a game where we had to ignore what the person in the middle of the circle said to us.  It became increasingly difficult as the game continued.  It has been a joy to see the men in the group learn and grow in their faith. Here Dany is leading a Bible study about Abraham in Genesis 16.

Welcoming New Pastor in Cotacachi

Image
April 10, 2016, was a glorious, important day for "Amigos en Cristo" Church in Cotacachi, where I have been serving as the part-time interim pastor since October 1, 2013. We welcomed national full-time pastor Walter, his wife Pamela and his daughter Neus. I served as the moderator of the special welcome service. First Liebenzell Mission of Ecuador presented the new pastoral family with books and flowers. Marisol enjoyed her time with Pamela in the nursery during the sermon. Then we laid hands on Walter and Pamela in a special time of prayer. God bless them as they serve with Liebenzell in Cotacachi.  Welcome, Walter, Pamela and Neus!  May you be a blessing to all!

Here I Am Again!

I know, pitiful, that I have not posted anything since December.  But now I am back, and hopefully better than ever!  HA!

Christmas Preparations

Image
Christmas is coming!  Here we are in Quito enjoying the decorations in the shopping malls! Making funny faces. This is Elias and Jacob's response when they realized the presents were not real!!! Every Christmas the children read a Bible verse and open a small gift each day from December 1 to December 24.  Call it the 24 Days of Christmas. Amelia helped Elías open his first Christmas bag. Posing with their Looney Toons figures. Yesterday the church folks joined with the Ecuador Project Hope volunteers to fill Christmas bags for the senior citizens luncheon this coming Monday.  A smile from Kim! Please pray for us as we share Jesus' love from the folks on Monday. The Christmas tree went up yesterday at the Ecuador Farnsworths. Merry Christmas to all from Farnsworth Family Forum.  Feliz Navidad para todos.

Play Practice for Christmas Cantata

Image
We are hard at work for the Christmas play that goes between the choir number in our cantata Felices Fiestas.   Amelia is one of the participants; she plays Paty and Christian's daughter Lea. Andrea, Emilia and Diego are the other actors in the drama. As the date for the first presentation nears, we moved into the church sanctuary to practice.  Currently we are finalizing all the details for the publicity, permits, sound, lights, costumes, etc.  Please pray for the following presentations: IGLESIA "PUENTE DE AMOR", Ibarra, Sunday, December 13, at 8 and 11 AM. TEATRO GRAN COLOMBIA, Ibarra, Fridady, December 18, at 8 PM. IGLESIA "AMIGOS EN CRISTO," Cotacachi, Sunday, December 20, at 8:30 AM. IGLESIA "EMANUEL", Atuntaqui, Sunday, December 27, at 9:30 PM. Thanks so much for your prayers and support.
