YOU NEVER KNOW
When our family returned to Ecuador in September 2017 to begin our four-year stint as leaders of the "Zona de Vida" church plant in Otavalo, Ecuador, little did we realize at that time that we would not see our Father/Grandfather Glennis Farnsworth again in this life. He became sick in March 2018 and passed away on March 23, 2018, at the age of 88. We thank God for the year that we had closer to him and Mom while we were in PA from 2016-2017.
We also celebrated her 90th birthday as a family in July 2022. That was a grand time.
All good things must come to an end, and we returned to Ecuador in September 2022, to return two years later for our daughter's transition to the USA. Again, we spent quality time with Mom over that year until (July 2024-September 2025).
We seized our time with Mom during the year, even though it was a four-hour trip one way to see her in VA. Alas, it would be the last time we would see her in earthly life. Yes, the same thing happened as it had with Dad. Mom developed pneumonia in December 2025 and rallied for a time, but her two bouts with Covid had compromised her lungs, and she left earth for heaven on February 16, 2026. We will always cherish this final photo that we made with her in September 2025, right before we returned to Ecuador to continue our missionary work.
I called Mom nearly every Thursday evening, and I miss her and think of her every Thursday. We had our final phone conversation on January 23, 2025. After that, the pneumonia left her unable to speak, and we made the difficult decision to place her on hospice. I'll never forget that final conversation in which she asked about all the people that she had met during her two trips to Ecuador. She was a prayer warrior, and we all miss her faithful prayers. We are glad that she is whole again and with her Savior in heaven.
CHERISH THE MOMENTS WHILE YOUR LOVED ONES ARE WITH YOU. YOU NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH TIME YOU HAVE LEFT WITH THEM IN THIS LIFE!
