This is day 2 at the church in Cotacachi. And yes, the Bible story was David and Goliath. The lady playing Goliath was so real that Elías had to leave the room!  Good times!

Recently as a family we participated in 3 Vacation Bible Schools in Cotacachi and the surrounding communities.  I will share some photos as I get around to it (famous last words, I know).  The theme was the Day 1, Amelia and Joel helped set up for the games with Alfonso, games leader. Amelia helped with registration. Joel helped with the twins.  So did Amelia. Here are some children waiting for the program to start. Everything started with songtime. The first day's Bible story was. . .you guessed it. . .Zacchaeus. Here are the actors from the skit performing the Zacchaeus song.  Although I played Jesus, I skipped the song because I did not know the words by heart.  Oops! Alfonso gave an evangelistic message following the Bible story time. The first day ended with refreshments, something that the kids (and the helpers) always look forward to.

¡Hola Amigos! Thank you for praying for us.   The first of our three Vacation Bible Schools was a success.   Ned helped with the Bible stories, and Marisol directed the crafts each day with the assistance of the whole family.   Working together in VBS fills us with joy.   An average of 70 children attended during the three days of VBS in the Cotacachi.   We recorded personal information about the children to facilitate follow-up.   Pray that God would continue to work in the hearts of these children.    During the next two weeks we will repeat the same program in communities on the outskirts of Cotacachi. Currently MINTS Seminary is on hiatus until September 15 when the new course, Introduction to the New Testament, will take place.   Meanwhile, the students are busy working on their essays.   Please pray for them. Joel, Amelia, Jacob and Elías attend Puentitos (Little Bridges) at Puente de Amor Church (Bridge of Love) every Friday afternoon.  Last week they received their awards for attendance and book work during the year. We are thrilled that our kids have this opportunity to learn about God and the Bible at a tender age.  It will serve them their whole lives through.

We continued on to another site for more frailejones.  They were in view for as far as the eye could see.  So pretty. We wound along a nature trail.  The first stop was, for obvious reasons, the frailejón. The second marker showed "straw," which was also in plain view everywhere. Next up: "little pillows," a kind of moss that protects the soil from erosion. Hugo, Elías and Joel press on along the train.
